The r/CryptoCurrency sub-Reddit Updates their Moon Balance Flair

There’s been a lot going on over on the r/CryptoCurrency sub-Reddit lately as it pertains to their native cryptocurrency Moons, and if you haven’t been paying attention, a couple of months back Reddit decided to discontinue support of not just the Moon cryptocurrency, but all cryptocurrencies that they were testing throughout their entire ecosystem of select sub-Reddits.

So far, the latest word is that Reddit is supposedly giving up control of the Moon cryptocurrency contract by the end of the week, according to this recent update from the moderators over on the r/CryptoCurrency sub-Reddit:

“Still waiting for Reddit to renounce the moons contract. ETA end of this week as they said they would do it by end of the month. The mod team is in communication with Reddit admins and waiting to hear back.”

One thing the moderators did get around to creating and implementing so far is the new “Moon Balance Flair” that appears next to your Reddit username in the r/CryptoCurrency sub-Reddit.

I tested it out, and so far the new Moon balance user flair seems to appear on both the website and mobile application. Below is what the preview looks like, and I included an explanation breakdown of what the different numbers and icons represent:

I’m guessing my sea creature representation is supposed to be a plankton, but unfortunately, the emojis are very small and sometimes incomprehensible. The moderators should create an option for us to mouse over, and or tap the emoji via the mobile application to view the description of our sea creature.

I know they’re supposed to be fun, especially when you see dolphins and whales showing up in posts and comments, so am I just being a sourpuss here in thinking that they should just scrap the sea creature emoji idea all together, or should they remain and prosper?

I especially like how they added the count of how many Moons you’ve ever had across all wallets, which really solidifies how faithful someone is as it pertains to their love for Moons.

The moderators also went ahead and gave the users the option of turning off their flairs entirely, which apparently was a highly requested feature according to the moderators.

I’m glad the r/CryptoCurrency community is still trying to salvage their native token, and it’s going to be interesting to see how all of this plays out over the next couple of months once the Moon cryptocurrency becomes completely decentralized.

I still hold my ground on not wanting the pay to post and comment model to return, and think it was and will be the worst use case for Moons and the r/CryptoCurrency sub-Reddit as a whole going forward.

I think the moderators should create a way for Redditors to tip Moons to one another, use them to purchase banner ads, and hopefully soon, use them to purchase r/CryptoCurrency sub-Reddit memberships, which will hopefully allow us to do all kinds of fun stuff.
